The Department of Chemistry and Bioscience at Aalborg University (AAU-Bio) has extensive experience in the field of environmental microbiology, notably applying next generation sequencing and proteomic studies to inventory the various species composing the microflora in several environments.<\/p>\n
The role of the AAU-Bio group in the project will be to identify the active pre-biotic compounds of the microalgae and how these compounds affect the activity and physiology of selected pathogenic bacteria associated with diseases in aquaculture.<\/p>\n

The pre-biotic compounds will be characterized and identified using various proteomic approaches and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, while the effect of the metabolites on the pathogenic activity will be quantified by oCelloScope. Physiological effects on the pathogens will be characterized and identified using differential proteomics. The AAU-Bio group will finally evaluate the effects of the pre-biotic compounds on the fish\u2019s health and farming performances.<\/p>\n
